This is a cosy crime mystery set in 10 Marchfield Square. Think Only Murders in the Building. Audrey and Lewis are amateur sleuths hired by Celeste to investigate the murder of a resident of Marchfiled Square.

This book is not just a cosy book with no depth. It juggles a lot of heavy themes and does this well. It has some really great and well developed characters. All of whom I liked. Its told mostly from Audrey and Lewis’s POV with Celeste have a few chapters from her POV.

The book has very cleaver plotting and an interesting setting. I really loved the dog rescue elements. The art forgery and swindle subplot was excellent. I liked how the author dealt with the stalker sub plot. The house also really enhanced the story.

There is a diverse range of characters with some good representation e.g. disability, LGBT+, Drag Queen and the elderly. This worked really well in the book. It was written so well that all these people were just part of the neighbourhood and it felt really authentic. It worked to really enhance my enjoyment of the book.

Audrey is the heart of the story and is a cleaver and observant woman. She is kind and I enjoyed her POV.

Lewis is a funny character and I like the crime writer element of his character.

Celeste and Dixon have got to be my favourite characters. I am only sorry we don’t get more on them They are very interesting and mysterious.
